Senior PostDoc call at CLNS IIT@Sapienza in integrative genomic and epigenomic platform - IGEP

BC 66449

The Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (http://www.iit.it) is a private law Foundation, created with special Government Law no. 269 of September 30th 2003, with the objective of promoting Italy's technological development and higher education in science and technology. Research at IIT is carried out in highly innovative scientific fields with state-of-the-art technology.

A senior postdoctoral position in the “Integrative Genomic and Epigenomic Platform - IGEP” will be available in the Center for Life Nanoscience  at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (CLNS@SAPIENZA, Rome, Italy).

The Integrative Genomic and Epigenomic Platform (IGEP) collaborates with scientists at CLNS@SAPIENZA and across the larger scientific community of the Sapienza University to identify and characterize patterns of genetic variation and gene expression. These patterns can yield a deeper understanding of how genetic factors influence disease risk and treatment outcomes in a wide range of human diseases, with a particular focus to neurodegenerative diseases (CLNS Project A1) and brain tumors and brain tumor stem cells (CLNS Project A2).

IGEP aims to provide a wide range of genomic technologies and platforms [including whole genome sequencing and directed re-sequencing; genome wide genetic associations (GWAS) of CNVs and SNPs with pathobiology and diseases relevant phenotypes; genome wide protein or RNA/chromatin associations (ChIPSeq, ChIRPSeq); the epigenome (histone modifications and the DNA methylome (ChIPSeq, MeDIPSeq); miRNA and sncRNAs genome wide profiling and the complete transcriptome (RNASeq)] and will routinely apply these technologies to studies of both human and non-human samples. Genome wide technologies are rapidly evolving and a major focus of the IGEP will be to track/test/adapt/evolve new technologies as well as develop new applications. In addition, the IGEP platform will work to test out emerging genetic technologies and develop, in collaboration with the CLNS@SAPIENZA Bioinformatics Platform, new tools and infrastructures for datasets storage and analysis.

Ideal candidates should have:

  • a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology or a related field;
  • a training track and experience in molecular biology with a focus in the study of transcriptional regulation in normal and tumoral cells;

The position requires specific knowledge and experience in:

  • Planning NGS experiments
  • High-throughput sequencing using next generation sequencing platforms
  • NGS Library preparation and quantification
  • Strategies for NGS results validation

The successful candidate will counsel and coordinate all the activities (libraries preparation, NGS, NGS data validation) related to NGS projects involving collaborators both within and beyond the CLNS@SAPIENZA.

We value scientists with a proactive attitude and results-oriented mindset, good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary research team.

An internationally competitive salary, dependent on experience, will be offered.

Interested applicants should submit CV, list of publications, a statement of research interests, and the names of at least two referees both to This email address is being protected from spambots.
