A postdoctoral position in ”Biophysics and Computer Science” is available at the Center for Life Nanoscience at  Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (CLNS@SAPIENZA, Rome, Italy).

The post doc will work on a project that aims at investigating the occurrence of emergent behavior within morphogenetic events occurring in vitro and in vivo in cell populations derived from single human stem cells. The project involves the use of long-term time lapse microscopy and other advanced microscopy tools. The detailed analysis and modeling of migratory and replicative behavior of single cells will be later integrated with single cell analysis of transcriptome and epigenome. The time lapse will be used to reconstruct the genealogical tree and the movements of the cells using an automatized computer code.

The construction of a realistic statistical model for the evolution of a single cell derived cell population is one of the goals of the projects.

Candidates should have a PhD in Physics or Computer Science and experience in picture segmentation

Previous work in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Statistical analysis of evolution models.
  • Statistical mechanics techniques.
  • Image acquisition in microscopy.
  • Image segmentation.
  • Construction of time-lapses and their analysis.

We are looking for highly motivated, young scientists.

 An internationally competitive salary, dependent on experience, will be offered.
